Alola!
This poem is an Ode (don’t know what an Ode is?) to the Sun.
Light of Life, an Ode to the Sun by KidLokSe
When most look up, they see what they expect to see:
The glowing, orange glob: the sun,
Admiring this, admiring that,
Hating this, hating that
All under its light and care
All we have to do is reap the benefits.
No! The majestic sun,
Its caring warmth,
Lights us up every single day,
Its soft arms of light,
Reach down to us from the heavens,
It’s life-giving golden gift,
Every living, breathing, second.
The sun is like a patient parent, waiting to comfort us
Like a furnace, burning if you get close, but neverending providing heat
A dandelion, blooming in the daylight
An orange dinghy, sailing across the sea, unfaltering
And, for eternity, a gold coin, twinkling till the lights go out.
The Sun: a fiery deity, known with many different names-
Surya of the Hindus,
Ra of the Egyptians,
Helios of the Greek,
Sol to the Norwegians and the Scientists
And much more to many more,
At the extremes of our solar system’s continuum,
‘Twas ever thus and forever will be
Our protector, and giver.
